Cloakroom
Definition
The cloakroom holds guests' coats and bags, and in winter it is an event's first and last bottleneck.
In practice
Its load is asymmetric: guests arrive in a scatter but everyone wants their coat at once at the end. So size it for the closing moment rather than arrival: as a rule of thumb, one attendant per two hundred guests when the event closes together. Run with one person in winter and a twenty-minute queue forms at the exit.
