The information desk is an event's central point of guidance, handling the programme, lost property and lost people.
In practice
At large family events this point carries a heavier load than expected: beyond programme questions, lost children and belongings all arrive here. Decide in advance who the desk escalates to when something happens that isn't part of the programme.
