EFO public charge
Also known as: Simplified employment charge · Daily public charge
Definition
The EFO public charge is the daily amount an employer pays per worker under simplified employment: 4,800 HUF for casual work in 2026.
In practice
The charge is daily, not hourly, and this is the point most often misread: a four-hour shift costs exactly as much as an eight-hour one. Per hour a short shift is therefore dearer: 1,200 HUF over four hours, 600 over eight, 400 over twelve. The amount is pegged to the minimum wage and differs by category: 1.5% of the minimum wage for casual work, 0.75% for tourism and agricultural seasonal work, 3% for film extras. It moves every January with the minimum wage.
