Casual work
Also known as: Simplified employment
Definition
Casual work is a short, few-day employment form, governed in Hungary by the rules on simplified employment.
In practice
Most event staff work this way because the work itself is occasional: a single event, a few shifts. Registration before work begins is mandatory. The limits apply per worker per employer: at most 5 consecutive calendar days, 15 days in a month and 120 days in a year. The annual cap rose from 90 to 120 days on 1 January 2026. The employer pays a daily public charge, 4,800 HUF per worker for casual work in 2026.
