Accreditation
Definition
Accreditation is the process by which a participant or journalist receives credentials and access from a pre-approved list.
In practice
What distinguishes it from registration is that the list is closed: how to handle someone not on it is a matter of pre-agreed protocol, not an on-the-spot decision. It's the typical entry form at press events and trade exhibitions, and camera crews need separate handling because they arrive earlier.
