In-store promotion
Also known as: Retail promotion · Instore activation
Definition
In-store promotion is sales-support activity inside a shop: tastings, product demos or a featured display staffed by people.
In practice
Success depends largely on placement: entrances, checkout lanes and adjacencies to related products perform best. Retail chains require the promotional space to be agreed in advance, and staff must follow the store's own rules.
